Removing Team Members
When someone leaves the team, removal is one-click — but the order of operations matters. Here's the safe path: reassign first, remove second, audit third.
Overview
Removing a member revokes all workspace access immediately. Their cards, comments, and history stay — labelled as "Former Member" — but assignments are cleared. Only Admins can remove members.
- · 12 assigned cards
- · 3 boards they own
- · 1 active automation
What happens on removal
Access revoked
All boards, cards, comments, and integrations the user touched lose their session within seconds.
Content preserved
Cards, comments, and history they authored remain — just attributed to "Former Member."
Assignments cleared
They're unassigned from every card automatically. Reassign manually or via automation.
API tokens revoked
Any personal API keys or webhook subscriptions tied to their account stop working immediately.
Removing a member
Open workspace settings → Members
You must be an Admin. Members and Viewers can't see this option.
Find the person
Search by name or email.
Open the row menu
Three-dot menu at the right of their row → "Remove from workspace."
Confirm in the dialog
Gryphin shows the blast radius — number of assignments, owned boards, automations they're part of. Confirm to proceed.
Before you remove
Especially for high-impact members, run this checklist:
Reassign their cards
Filter the board by their name and bulk-reassign before removing. Otherwise cards become orphaned.
Reassign board ownership
Any board they own needs a new owner. Open each board → Settings → Transfer ownership.
Audit automations
Rules they authored keep running. Check Settings → Automations and update authorship.
Export their work (if needed)
For audit-heavy industries, export their assigned cards before removal. Comes as a JSON or CSV.
Re-adding someone later
Removed members can be re-invited any time. They keep their history — re-joining re-attributes their old content from "Former Member" back to their name.
Need to do this often?
Business plans support SCIM. When someone is deactivated in your IdP, they're removed from Gryphin automatically — same day, no manual cleanup.
